Is Baby Getting Enough?

New parents are nearly universally concerned about their baby getting enough to eat.The simple answer YES if baby is swallowing at the breast, pooping well, urinating, is satisfied after feeding, and the doctor reports weight gain is appropriate.  If all of these things are present, but the baby wakes up shortly after being put down, the baby wants to be held – it isn’t hungry.  If all of these things are present and a baby wakes up after being burped asleep and subsequently appears to be “rooting” and “sucking,” the baby is showing normal development lack of head control.  However, if an infant isn’t gaining weight well, this means baby isn’t getting enough breastmilk and needs supplementation.
