Dermatitis or Eczema and Breastfeeding

Dermatitis (also called eczema) occurs extremely commonly on the breasts (particularly the areola, which is the darker skin that surrounds the nipple) in non-breastfeeding women.  It is that much MORE common during lactation for a variety of reasons.  It is the number one issue affecting patients who are incorrectly diagnosed as having “yeast.”
