Hindmilk and Foremilk Imbalance
The topic of “hindmilk and foremilk imbalance” has gained a lot of attention in the past years. It can contribute to discomfort and explosive stools in infants. However, it is most important to recognize that this “imbalance” occurs in combination with hyperlactation (oversupply) and therefore treatment is targeted at resolving the oversupply. It is also important to know that this hindmilk/foremilk factor does not contribute to poor infant weight gain.
